BOARD 2022-2023
IVY
Co-President
Hi everyone! My name is Ivy and I am so excited to be a co-president of Moonlight for the 2022-2023 year! I am a junior who loves to listen to True Crime podcasts and read about celebrity drama. I love literature and I am very passionate about writing. I write in the Opinions section of the Spectator and I also love writing short stories with unreliable narrators. One of the best things about Moonlight is the community. Not only do we concentrate on writing, but we also encourage conversation and bonding time. We accept all and any work, which makes our publications extraordinarily diverse and colorful!

DALIA
Co-President
Hello everyone! My name is Dalia, and I am so excited to be a co-president of Moonlight for the 2022-2023 year! Being able to resume Moonlight meetings in-person last year was so special, and I cannot wait to share all of the new plans we have for this semester. I am a junior who would love to talk to you about animals, books, the beach, and any new songs that you’ve been listening to. You can find me in the dog park with my adorable pup named Charlie, or at the library searching for the next item on my to-be-read list. The Moonlight has been such an important part of my years at Stuy so far, because it gives me a place to dedicate my attention to one of my greatest passions in life: writing! Having the chance to learn from my talented peers in Moonlight has been an incredible opportunity that I am looking forward to sharing with all of you this year.

BOARD 2021-2022
CAROL CHEN
Co-President
Co-President
Hi everyone! My name is Carol, and I am so excited to be a co-president of Moonlight for the 2021-2022 year! I am a senior who loves to listen to indie pop music, bake any dessert with puff pastry, and play blitz chess. Though my main passion in life is math, I love to write poems and personal memoirs in my free time to explore my own voice. I also enjoy immersing myself in novels, my current favorite being Sourdough by Robin Sloan.
I enjoy traveling to new places to see the scenery and people there since all the new sights, sounds, and smells give me inspiration for my poems and memoirs.
One of the best things about Moonlight is how warm and cheerful it is. Even though we had to bring our meetings online last year, they were still insightful and relaxing. We accept all and any work, which makes our publications extraordinarily diverse and colorful. I can’t wait to see what you all will create!

KRISTA PROTEASA
Co-President
Co-President
Hi! I’m Krista and I’ll be one of the co-presidents of The Moonlight for the 2021-2022 school year. Ever since Carol introduced me to the publication, I haven’t been able to stop reading everyone’s pieces and admiring all the art. I’m indubitably excited to engage in all the fun activities!
As a current senior, I’m currently feeling a little anxious about college apps, but I’m sure I’ll be able to work everything out. It’s a journey I’m excited to embark on.
You can usually find me being a self-proclaimed paparazzi for assorted bugs and other fascinating critters along with simply holding private karaoke parties where I blast The Neighbourhood and hopefully none of my neighbors get annoyed.
I’m looking forward to being a member of the Board for such wonderful publications this year!

DALIA LEVANON
Vice President of Writing
Vice President of Writing
Hello everyone! My name is Dalia Levanon, and I am so excited to be the Vice President of writing for the Moonlight 2021-22 school year. I joined Moonlight during the first semester of my freshman year at Stuyvesant, and it instantly became a welcoming community of creative peers that I looked forward to seeing at each meeting. Although we met virtually through Zoom, we were still able to have fascinating conversations, inspire each other, give feedback, and most importantly, write! Now going into my sophomore year, I am hopeful that this club will be able to convene in person to continue to build a strong community of writers and artists. If you have a conversation with me, you will most likely learn about my adorable two-year-old labradoodle, my dream to live in California, the fact that I cannot stand winter, and of course, any good books that I’m currently reading (book recommendations would be appreciated at the moment!).
Looking forward to meeting you and reading your submissions,
Dalia.

NICOLE ITKIN
Vice President of Art
Vice President of Art
Hi! My name is Nicole Itkin and I’m thrilled to be the Vice President of Art. I’ve loved the warm and creative space that Moonlight has been for me in the past and I really hope to help carry that through into this year. I love pretty much anything and everything creative; you’ll usually find me buried in a book, memorizing my lines for a play, or editing a piece of writing. If, somehow, you’ve found me when I’m not doing one of those things, I’m probably thinking about doing one or all of them. If not, then I’m probably sleeping— and dreaming about those things. There’s no escape! Anyway, I’m so excited to get to meet all of you and I can’t wait to see your work!
BOARD 2020-2021
JESSICA JIANG
Co-President
Co-President
Heylo! I am so excited to be a co-president of Moonlight for the 2020-2021 year with Lamia! I am currently a senior and am freaking out over college right now. A little bit about me: I like long walks with Hamilton in my ears, coffee at midnight, spearmint gum all the time (that was my attempt to rhyme ;)). I have an unhealthy obsession with stationary (MUJI especially), I love reading (as Stephen King said, all great writers are habitual readers), and I am an advent collector of quotes (my favorite is “Never forget that the yellow body beside you is the only country you have”).
My aspirations? Right now, I just wanna graduate.
Ask me about my thumb. Request a pun. Can’t wait to see all the things you create.
Lots of Love,
Jessica

Co-President
Hey! As Jessica said, I’m also so excited to be a co-president of Moonlight for the 2020-2021 year. I am also a senior who is freaking out over college. I love reading murder mysteries, listening to R&B, working on my own writing, and watching horror movies!
I actually didn’t know that Jessica collects quotes, but I do the same! Some of my favorite quotes are by Malcolm Gladwell and RBG (rip).
If you want to see me nerd out over something, ask me about how dreams work or about the criminal justice system. I promise that you’ll see my eyes light up.
Wish you all the best,
Lamia

YUME IGARASHI
Vice President of Art
Vice President of Art
Hello everyone! My name is Yume Igarashi, and I am so honored to be the Vice President of Art for Moonlight for the 2020-2021 board. I am a senior who is currently trying to finalize my college choices based on the varying qualities of dining options ;’).
The current president, Jessica Jiang, introduced me to this club, and it’s been amazing and casually educational since day one. I’m super hyped to be a huge part of the artistic aspects of this year’s Moonlight publications!
What I love about Moonlight is how inclusive, open, and inspirational it is in its goal to encourage and provide a platform for all ambitious, artistic students! It’s aesthetic in a quirky way. That description is often applied to my name too: my first name means “dream” in Japanese, and my last name can be roughly translated to “fifty storms”! This club and I can relate to each other on a personal level in terms of eccentric poeticness being a significant portion of our characters.
For this club, I’m most excited to see all of your beautiful artistic submissions! Perhaps a runner up is the collection of all the high-quality puns Jessica is sure to conjure.
Wishing you all the best of luck and happy vibes,
Yume

BRIAN ZHANG

Co Vice President of Writing
Hey! I’m Brian and I’m super excited to be part of Moonlight’s 2020-2021 board. The club has truly done a lot to showcase the amount of creativity and potential hidden within the Stuyvesant community, and I’m glad that I can call myself part of the effort to do so. In my free time, I enjoy tap dancing, freewriting, and playing JENGA with my cousins.
Feel free to send any of your questions to [email protected] and I hope that you have a wonderful time browsing through our website (or even better, participating in the club!).

Co Vice President of Writing
Hello! I’m Emily and I’m excited to be the Vice President of Moonlight for the 20-21 school year. I have been a part of Moonlight since my freshman year and have found it to be an incredible creative outlet in such a STEM oriented school! Some random things about me: I have an unhealthy obsession with medical shows and Criminal Minds, I like skateboarding at night (although I’m not that good at it), and I will forever stand by my choice that bacon avocado chipotle from Ferry’s isn’t that amazing.
Can’t wait to see what you create!
